1802 ADHESIVE
1802 ADHESIVE is solvent-based formulation.

Materials Bonded/Applications

1802 ADHESIVE is used in footwear manufacture for sole bonding and will bond PVC and polyurethane (PU) molded units and soles cut from vinyl materials, to leather, PVC and fabric uppers. For bonding onto EVA surface BOSTIK M 938 PRIMER is recommended for preparation of the EVA surface prior to adhesive application. 3-5% Hardener Bostikure D or Bostikure E be mixed with the cement before use.

Bonding Instructions
  • Prepare the surfaces to be bonded in accordance with BOSTIK information sheet on BOSTIK ADHESIVE FOR THE FOOTWEAR INDUSTRY (SOLE ATTACHING SYSTEMS).

  • Apply the adhesive to the uppers and soles by brush or appropriate machine.

  • Allow a minimum drying time at normal room temperatures of 15 minutes for the uppers and 1 hour for the soles.

  • Reactivate the dried adhesive on one of the coated surfaces at a temperature of 700C to 900C by means of a high intensity heat activating unit ("flash activation"). Bring the two surfaces together under pressure using a correctly adjusted sole attaching press.

Bonding by this technique should be carried out within the tack retention times of the applied adhesive. Tack retention time depends on room temperature, relative humidity and hardener content but can be assessed by apotting the upper with sole. In cold weather, pressing should be done quickly after heat activation

CLEANER: Use MEK or Acetone for cleaning application equipment.
